Do I need to know any Irish already?
Not at all. This course assumes no prior knowledge. You’ll be brought on a journey through the gateway, from beginning to end.
Is this course only for people outside of Ireland?
It doesn’t matter where you are. However, if you’ve already got some dormant Gaeilge from school, then we recommend skipping Gaeilge Gateway, and become a Gaeilge Gach Lá Member.

What’s included in the course?
The course has three modules:
Bunchlocha – Lay the foundation for understanding and speaking
Pronunciation Crash Course – Learn how Irish sounds, not just how it’s spelled
Introduce Yourself in Irish – Pull it all together and begin speaking
The course also includes three check-ins between the modules. The check-ins are community replies, so you see what others are sharing on similar journeys as your own. Due to community content, Gaeilge Gateway is suitable for adults only. The course is not designed for children under 18 years of age.
What dialect do you teach?
We teach standardised Irish where possible, with a taste of Munster Irish. Please see our Courses Info.
