Your Gaeilge Gach Lá Tips

We asked our members if they had any tips they could share about how they keep themselves motivated to continue learning Gaeilge and practice Gaeilge gach lá.

Here are tips from two of our members

Jim – Write Your Own Story

“I have created a little story where I go and ask for directions to a good pub with good food and real Guinness. I go to the pub to ask for food and drink. Thank them then sit back and listen to the folks speak Irish. It would be great if you know of such a pub and what’s it called. As I continue my studies I will go to many places in my make-believe Irish town.”

Fergus – Use your Irish every day

“Gach lá dean do dhícheall cúpla focail a labhairt as Gaeilge.

Do your best to speak a few words in Irish every day.

Fergus gives us some examples:

Lá breá ann inniu – It’s a lovely day today

Lá liath ann inniu – It’s a grey day

Tá sé scamallach – It’s cloudy

Tá sé ag cur báistí – It’s raining

Tá me ag obair inniu – I’m working today

Tá me ag caint as Gaeilge inniu – I’m speaking in Irish today

Tá lá saor agam inniu – I have a free day today

I am having problems with being able to write Irish words that have fada’s with my keyboard. I am running Windows 10 on my pc. My keyboard is ENG (United States)US . How can I get my keyboard to change to my being able to write in Irish when I need it to write in Irish? Thank you for your help.
