The importance of the fada

In the Irish language, it’s really important to include the síneadh fada accent mark over the vowels when it’s mean to be there. The accent mark looks like this:

á ó ú í é

The sound of the fada is good to learn for Irish language pronunciation, because you’ll always have to lean in to pronounce it. There’s no guessing over how it should be pronounced.

This is a lesson walk through of the Bitesize Cúrsaí lesson The importance of the accent mark which is available to Bitesize Irish members in our course Work and the Weather.
