Member Interview with Martin – How an overheard conversation restarted my Irish language journey

This week, I had a lovely chat with our GROW member, Martin.

Martin, who lives in Dublin, has been a member of the GROW Program for 8 months now and talks about his experience in learning the language. Martin left school at 14 and had very little Irish and didn’t think much of it until he overheard a young couple in An Daingean / Dingle conversing in Irish. This sparked his interest and also a little bit of jealousy which caused him to find Bitesize Irish on YouTube.

Martin talks about using Irish in his everyday life and how he finds Irish phonetics easier to pronounce compared to English! He gives some simple but great advice to those thinking about starting their Irish language journey – Don’t panic!
