MEMBER INTERVIEW WITH DEIRDRE – REDISCOVERING IRISH THROUGH MUSIC

This week, I had the chance to catch up with our GROW member, Deirdre.

Deirdre grew up in County Kerry and moved to Ontario, Canada over 35 years ago. During a visit home last year, Deirdre enrolled in music lessons held through the medium of Irish at Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh in Dingle, Co. Kerry. As someone who claimed to not speak Irish, she began to remember some of the Irish she had from her schooldays.

Deirdre has rediscovered Irish and is enjoying it more than ever. She shares how she incorporates Gaeilge Gach Lá into her life as well as her opinion on it never being too late to start learning or relearning Irish!

Go raibh míle maith agat Deirdre for taking the time to chat to me and I hope you all enjoy her story as much as I did.

  2. Thank you Emma and Deirdre for letting me in on your process.
I believe I’m closer every time I hear these encouraging interviews to
Begin my own membership. For now, I continue labeling and doing my best to say simple things.

    1. Glad to hear, Ruth. Take it step by step and whatever pace suits you. Labelling and using simple phrases is a great way to incorporate Gaeilge Gach Lá into your life 🙂
When you do feel ready to take the next step, you can try our free taster course linked in the post above.
